Looking back at 2009...

It was a pretty decent year.  I think the second half of 2008 was better than 2009 all together.  Most of 2009 was spent in my 16th year on Earth.  It wasn’t the best of years…so much for sweet 16th.  However, it wasn’t a totally depressing year.  I made some new friends throughout the year, faced unexpected love (good and bad), freaked out/gone mad by the amount of work (Junior year is a bitch), got my license (^_^), got braces (-.-), got to know my father’s side of the family better, learned more about how much the world sucks, family is always there for me, became more inspirational to some of my friends, got to know the girls of my life a little better (you know who you are), didn’t get sick that much, lost my composure of integrity from time to time, found out I wasted my summer, finally got a new cell phone, looked up to God more than ever, rekindled my fondness for VSU, found out where I truly belong with friends at school, and lived another year of my life.

All these are (to the readers) probably pointless crap, but it feels good to jot these thoughts into words…2009 was an okay year, and I just hope that 2010 will be like 2008 or even better.

Moral of the story...

My uncle told me a great story with a great lesson during Christmas lunch.  It went a little something like this…

There once was a student who wanted to become the greatest artist in the world.  So he went to his master, and his master told him to go to the nearby town center, and draw the supermarket.  The master also instructed him to put a sign next his drawing, saying anyone passing by may put X’s in any place that they found was incorrect.  And so the student did this, and returned a month later to see his drawing was fully of X’s.  He was very disappointed, and returned to his master.  The master told him to go the town center, and do the same thing again, except this time have a sign saying people can erase and redraw anything that he drew incorrectly.  So the student did this, and returned one month later, but saw that no one changed anything.  He went to his master because he was very confused.  The wise master replied that in life, people are always willing to point out imperfections, but are not willing to correct themselves.

God, I love my family.  Even though we aren’t always on the happiest terms, or see things through the same eyes, I wouldn’t trade them for anything.  They’re all valuable parts of my life, and I love them so much.  Life isn’t always about “what if’s,” but about “what is.”

Christmas...

…to me is more than the shopping and gifts.
It’s time with family, time with friends, Christmas traditions, spirited dinner, and most important: love.  Society now places more emphasis on shopping and getting every gifts.  But everyone should know that it’s about spending time with our love ones and expressing our love, but our expression doesn’t have to be anything material.  The little conversations still mean more to some of us, than a new pair of jeans.

Pet Peeve: I hate it when people use X-Mas, instead of Christmas.

I just love late night conversations.
